Description

Memory Training Centers of America is the largest provider of professional memory training services in the USA. MTCA provides memory evaluation and treatment for individuals suffering from memory loss, as well as services and programs for individuals who wish to prevent memory loss.

Evaluation services are provided by Ph.D. clinical psychologists and neuropsychologists, with neurological evaluations also provided.

Treatment services are provided by experienced cognitive psychologists and social work clinicians to assist patients suffering from memory loss due to conditions such as Mild Cognitive Impairment or early stage Alzheimer's disease. Individuals are supportively guided through state-of-the-art computer exercises that strengthen neural connections as well as assist in developing new neural pathways required to encode and store new information. In addition, a range of interactive and problem-solving interventions are provided to strengthen memory functioning and enhance independent living skills and quality of life that are affected by memory loss. HAPPYneuron's cognitive exercises play an important role in the treatment services.

Evaluation and treatment services are covered by Medicare, and billed directly by MTCA.

Preventive memory training services are also offered by MTCA, providing healthy individuals who are not yet evidencing cognitive impairment with “exercise” to strengthen existing memory function and build a reserve of prevention to guard against future memory loss. MTCA “Memory Gyms” provide daily access to CD-ROM and web-based memory enhancement programs, with individual training/“coaching” available. The goal is to enable prevention of memory impairment to those who wish to maintain healthy cognitive functioning throughout their lifetime. Though it's partnership with HAPPYneuron, MTCA Memory Gyms offer memory, attention, and a variety of other cognitive strengthening exercises.

MTCA centers have been providing treatment, education and support to individuals suffering from memory impairment and their caregivers since 2001. MTCA is currently the largest provider of professional memory training services for assisted living communities in the Northeast. During the past year, MTCA has expanded its services to seniors though free-standing outpatient Centers as well as nursing care facilities, and is expanding from the Northeast to the Southeast (Memory Training Centers of Alabama) and other parts of the U.S.
